How to recover deleted text messages

How to recover deleted text messages using MobiKin Doctor for Android.

After installing the program on your PC and connecting the device, you will be prompted to allow MobiKin access to your phone. Within a few seconds, you should see a preview of your text messages on the MobiKin main screen, and recovering the data and backing it up onto your PC should be instantaneous. The screenshots below illustrate how the software works.

Step 1: Once you plug in your phone, this screen will automatically appear. It will detect your device, connect to it and let you know when the process is ready to start. You can also see from the screen that MobiKin can be used for Android SD Card Recovery and as a Super Toolkit.

Step 2: Once it is connected, your phone's data will be displayed, such as model, system version etc. and you will be given the choice of what kind of data you want to retrieve. As you can see from the screenshot below, your have several options of things to recover: contacts, photos, messages, call logs, photos, videos, audio and documents. Select 'Messages' and click Next

Step 3: Your data will be retrieved in a few moments and will be displayed as shown in the screenshot below. Here we have selected all the categories but if you've only selected 'Messages', you will only see that section. You can choose to only display deleted items (in case you have a ton of messages), which is easier for filtering. Either select each individual message or you can select them all by ticking the checkbox in the top bar.  Next, select Recover to retrieve the lost or deleted data.

Step 4: Once your data is recovered, you will be asked to save it directly onto your PC. Choose or create a folder where you want your messages to be saved.

Make sure you never lose text messages again
If you want to avoid the panic of losing your messages again in the future, the best thing to do is to back up your text messages regularly. The good news is it only takes a few minutes to do this.

I use a free app called SMS Backup & Restore. It's straightforward, looks nice and works perfectly - what else could you ask for? Check out the screenshots below for the walk-through.

1. Once you've downloaded and installed SMS Backup & Restore, open the app and tap Set up a Backup.

2. Next, choose what you want to create a backup of, whether messages or calls or both, and then select where you want to send your backup: Google Drive, Dropbox or your phone. Then hit Next.

3. Make your selection from the list that appears and then tap OK.

4. If you selected to save your data to Google Drive, you'll need to be logged onto your Google account. This requires a quick setup. You can also test if the SMS Backup & Restore app is working by using the Test function.

5. After you've set up the Google Drive account, you can also select when a backup should be done, either when only in WiFi or also when charging.

6. The app lets you decide when backups should be done, either daily, weekly or hourly. In the advanced settings, you can schedule backups as well as disable notifications. Once you have configured the app to your liking, select Back up now to actually backup your SMS or phone calls.
